Installation
Important: First of all, when installing any datasets, do not have GCB running. This will ensure that no glitches happen during the install process. If you do not heed this step, and find problems after installing the dataset, you may have to reinstall GCB.
Download the file and unzip it into the directory you installed GCB in (most likely C:\Program Files\GURPS\ ).
When unzipping, be sure to use path names - the logo files will then be put into the correct subdirectory.
No files in the archive should overwrite any main GCB files, unless otherwise specified in that dataset's readme. It may overwrite files you already have in your directory from another dataset, either a previous version or our or someone else's version. You install and use these files at your own risk.
Using
The basic way to use a datasheet is to load it, and then all the new and updated information form that datasheet will be available for that character to use. To do so:
- From the File menu, select Load Data Sheet...
- In the Data Sheet Files column (the leftmost one), there lists all the datasheets you have in your GCB directory. To load one, click on it and select Load Now.
- Close the dialog when you are finished loading the datasheets
Some files also have a Character Sheet Template (*.cst) file. Using that, when you bring up the New File dialog (from going to File > New) you can select the template for that set. It will automatically load any datasheets that it requires that are not loaded, and if there is a character generation script (*.scp) it will begin the wizard for generating a character. The readme file will say if it has these files and what affect the dataset does.
