Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?
Author: Philip K. Dick

And now, my horrible review of a book with lots of big words, and without any pretty pictures or pop-up scenes... Very disappointing... No, not really.

Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep is A lovely little book, written by Phillip K. Dick back in 1968. It would eventually become the inspiration for the brilliant 1982 film "Blade Runner" starring Harrison Ford and Rutger Hauer, (Which is one of my personal favorites) But when you pick up this book, don't expect to see the movie play out in its words. Save for a couple character names and a few major plot points, the story is completely different.

Rick Deckard is a Bounty Hunter employed by the San Francisco Police Department, second banana to the main bounty hunter, Dave Holden. When Holden is hospitalized Deckard is assigned to "Retire" the wayward androids that have escaped from an offworld colony to live with the "Specials" on the radioactive Earth...

There is far too much going on in this novel to describe for you here, So I say, if you're a fan of the Ridley Scott film, Go pick up the book to get a fresh perspective on what you saw. If you haven't yet seen the movie, I suggest you do so. Either before or after you've read the book. Hell, Read the book no matter who you are. It should be required reading in school! ok, no it shouldn't. But it is damn entertaining Sci-Fi reading, and it may even make you think about yourself... Introspection... Whoa.
